Custom Excel Services Hensel Phelps
What We Built
Hensel Phelps, a large construction giant across the US, hired DWC to design a custom project management application using Microsoft Excel. The project required a high degree of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code, as well as tapping into some of Excel’s advanced reporting, pivot table, and pivot report features.
In order to design the Excel application to their specific workflow, we created a step-by-step project management process for the user to follow. After entering basic project data, the application could predict an estimated baseline for project costs and resources.
Once the user began to enter live data, options for different types of projects to track, the user could view actual versus projected data for any element of the project. Filters and custom grouping features were added to allow for real-time data analysis.
For reporting, many options of PivotTables & PivotCharts were included, as well as projected trend-lines for future project estimates.
