Improving Project Communications and Stakeholder Management
The project did not fail. The stakeholders stopped agreeing.
Projects rarely fail on execution. They fail because someone with influence was not consulted, an expectation was set and never revisited, or two stakeholders were agreeing to different things using the same words. None of that appears in a status report until it is too late to fix cheaply.
This workshop treats stakeholder management as work rather than diplomacy. Participants map the real influence network on their own initiative, which is rarely the org chart, and build a communication approach that matches what each person needs in order to decide. Over two days there is time to practice the hard conversations rather than just discuss them.
Senior leaders and program managers use this on cross-functional or cross-agency initiatives, where nobody has authority over everyone and delivery depends on sustained agreement. HR and learning and development leaders use it where projects keep stalling for reasons that are political rather than technical. This is the stakeholder-focused counterpart to Project Management Fundamentals.
Content, scenarios, and examples are built around your actual work before delivery. Most groups train live online, and on-site in-person delivery is available by request. This workshop is available by request only, with a three participant minimum, and sits alongside our other leadership development workshops.

Description
Day one starts with mapping, on a real initiative participants bring. Who is affected, who has influence, who has a veto they have never used, and who is loud but cannot actually stop anything. Most maps surface at least one person who was never on the list and should have been, and at least one who has been consuming attention out of proportion to their power.
The rest of day one is the message. Participants learn to tailor communication to what a stakeholder needs in order to decide rather than to what the project team finds interesting, build a cadence people will actually read, and write a status update that reports reality rather than protecting the team. They practice saying a project is at risk, in writing, to someone who does not want to hear it.
Day two is the difficult part: expectations that were set optimistically and now have to be reset, two stakeholders who want incompatible things, the executive who reverses a decision at week ten, and the sponsor who has gone quiet. Participants practice each, and build a stakeholder plan for their own initiative that they leave with.
