AI for Business Professionals Certificate

Live, Private Microsoft 365 Copilot Training Built for Business Professionals

DWC’s AI training for business professionals is delivered as private, live instruction with an instructor who uses these tools in real business work. This is not another self-paced AI course you watch alone and abandon halfway through. Most private programs begin with a single student, and enrollment stays small by design, so every session is a direct working conversation with your instructor at a pace that matches where you actually are.

The program prepares you for the current Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional exam (AB-730), the Microsoft AI certification built for the people who actually run businesses: marketing, finance, HR, operations, and administration. Training is centered on Microsoft 365 Copilot, the platform the AB-730 exam assesses, so you are learning how to use Microsoft Copilot at work, in the apps you already live in: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Across 78 hours of live instruction, you will learn how Copilot works with your organization’s data, master prompt writing for business professionals, build and share Microsoft 365 Copilot agents without writing code, and draft, summarize, and analyze business documents, meetings, and data with AI. Cross-platform exposure to other generative AI assistants keeps your AI skills transferable to whatever tools your employer uses. Every exam-aligned module ends with a hands-on competency check, and the program closes with dedicated AB-730 exam prep, a capstone project, and a portfolio of AI-assisted work products you can show an employer.

How Enrollment Works

There is no cohort calendar. You start when you are ready.

Step 1: Contact Admissions

Request program information or attend a free info session. Discuss your goals, timeline, and funding options with an admissions advisor.

R

Step 2: Choose Your Schedule

Work with your instructor to set your start date, session days, and session times. Evening and daytime options are available. Sessions meet twice per week at 3 hours each.

R

Step 3: Begin Training

Start on the date you chose. Your instructor meets you where you are, and the curriculum moves at your pace from day one.

Why Private Instruction Changes Everything

Most AI training moves at the pace of the room. Group workshops slow down for whoever is furthest behind, and self-paced video courses leave you alone with your questions. Private instruction removes the room. Your instructor teaches at your pace, spends more time in the apps where you need it, and moves quickly through what you already know. If you live in Excel but rarely open PowerPoint, your training reflects that. The 78 hours are all yours.

Your questions get answered when you have them

The moment a Copilot response looks wrong, incomplete, or too good to trust is the moment to ask. With one student on the call, every question gets a full answer, and your instructor can watch how you write prompts and correct habits before they become workplace problems.

Training built around your real work

Sessions use business scenarios that mirror your role: the client email, the budget spreadsheet, the board deck, the meeting recap. You practice in the same Microsoft 365 apps you use every day, so what you learn on Tuesday is usable at work on Wednesday.

Exam prep built around your gaps

Practice assessment results decide where review time goes. If agent scenarios are costing you points, that is where the final sessions focus, not a fixed review schedule written for an average student.

Training that fits around a job

Most students in this program are working full time while they train. You set session days and times with your instructor, so training fits around meetings, deadlines, and family commitments instead of competing with them.

AI for Business Professionals Certificate Curriculum

The curriculum follows the current published Microsoft AB-730 exam domains, so nothing you study is filler and nothing on the exam is a surprise. Every module combines live instruction with hands-on work in Microsoft 365 Copilot, and every exam-aligned module ends with a competency check. 78 hours across six modules, delivered in twenty-six 3-hour sessions.

Lesson content and order may vary based on instructor approach and changes in the industry.

Module 1 - Generative AI Foundations for Business

Students build the vocabulary and working understanding that everything else rests on. How generative AI and Copilot actually work, how Copilot uses your organization’s data, and how to use AI responsibly are all covered here. Who This Program Is For

This program starts from where business professionals already are. You should be comfortable in Microsoft 365 apps like Outlook, Word, and Excel, but you do not need a technical background, coding experience, or any prior AI training. Most students arrive from one of these situations:

Who is this AI for Business professionals for

Marketing and communications professionals

You draft campaigns, emails, social content, and reports every week, and AI tools are already reshaping how that work gets done. This program turns scattered experimentation into a repeatable workflow across Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and gives you a Microsoft credential and a portfolio of AI-assisted work products to show for it.

Finance, accounting, and operations staff

Your work lives in Excel and in the reports built from it. You will learn to analyze data, generate charts, and validate AI output so the numbers you present hold up, plus how to delegate repeatable process work to agents and Copilot Cowork.

HR, administrative, and office management professionals

Correspondence, scheduling, meeting notes, policies, and onboarding documents fill your days. Copilot handles the first draft and the recap; this program teaches you to direct it well, review it critically, and build simple agents for the workflows you repeat every week.

Managers and team leads

Your team is already using AI, with or without guidance. This program makes you the person who sets the standard: running meetings with Intelligent recap, delegating work to agents with proper oversight, and modeling responsible AI use your organization can trust.

Job seekers using workforce funding

Employers now screen for AI aptitude across ordinary business roles, not just technical ones. If you are unemployed or underemployed, WIOA funding may cover your tuition, and because training is scheduled privately, you can start as soon as your funding is approved instead of waiting for a cohort.

Employer-sponsored employees

Your company is rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot and needs people who can actually use it. DWC invoices employers directly, provides documentation for reimbursement programs, and private scheduling means training fits around your workload. If your company is training more than one person, ask about group rates.

AI Skills, Hiring, and Career Outcomes

Employer demand for AI skills

AI aptitude has become a hiring screen for ordinary business roles. In the Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 75 percent of knowledge workers said they already use AI at work, 66 percent of business leaders said they would not hire someone without AI skills, and 71 percent said they would rather hire a less experienced candidate with AI skills than a more experienced candidate without them (Source: Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 2024). A recognized Microsoft credential is a direct way to put that aptitude on paper.

How professionals use this certification

This is not a career-change credential; it is a career-acceleration credential. Students use it to make a promotion case, to stand out in a job search where AI skills are screened, and to step into the informal AI champion role that most organizations are trying to fill right now. Your program includes career coaching to help you position the credential and your capstone portfolio for whichever of those paths fits.

About the Microsoft credential

Passing exam AB-730 earns the Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional credential, the Microsoft certification built for business users of AI rather than developers. The exam is proctored, requires a score of 700 or greater to pass, and focuses on practical, hands-on use of Microsoft 365 Copilot (Source: Microsoft Learn). Your training is aligned to the current published exam objectives, and your voucher is issued for the exam version you will sit.

Marketing and Communications

Draft campaigns, repurpose content across channels, summarize performance reporting, and build decks in a fraction of the time.

Finance and Operations

Analyze spreadsheets, generate charts and insights, document processes, and validate AI output before it reaches a decision maker.

HR and Administration

Draft correspondence and policies, manage meeting recaps and follow-ups, and build agents for the workflows you repeat weekly.

Managers and Team Leads

Prepare for meetings faster, delegate multi-step work to agents with oversight, and set responsible AI standards for your team.

How AI Is Changing Everyday Business Work

How AI is changing everyday business work

AI is reshaping ordinary business work faster than most organizations can write policy for it. In the Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 75 percent of knowledge workers said they already use AI at work, and 78 percent of those users are bringing their own AI tools into the workplace rather than waiting for their company to provide them (Source: Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 2024). That gap between adoption and governance is exactly where trained professionals stand out: the people who can use approved tools well, protect sensitive data, and verify what AI produces.

What this means for your career: the professionals employers want can work alongside AI, not just click a button and hope. Copilot can draft the email, summarize the meeting, and analyze the spreadsheet, but a human still decides whether the draft is right, whether the numbers hold up, and whether sensitive information stayed protected. That judgment is what this program builds, through hands-on work in every core Microsoft 365 app plus the verification and responsible AI practices the AB-730 exam tests directly.

Microsoft updates the AB-730 exam objectives as Copilot itself evolves, and because your training is aligned to the current published exam version, you study these tools as they exist now, not as they looked a year ago.

Why DWC Trains Differently

Why DWC trains differently

Most online AI training is a video library and a discussion forum. Self-paced courses have completion rates below 15 percent; DWC maintains a 90 percent completion rate (Source: DWC internal data). The difference is how we train.

Live, instructor-led, every session

Every hour of this program is taught live over Zoom by an instructor who uses these tools in real business work. No pre-recorded lectures, no waiting days for a forum reply while a confusing Copilot response sits unexplained.

Hands-on in the apps you already use, not slideware

You train inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, doing the real work of a business professional: drafting documents, analyzing spreadsheets, building presentations, running meetings, and delegating to agents. Every exam-aligned module ends with a hands-on competency check, so exam day feels like another working session.

State-approved training since 2006

DWC has delivered live, instructor-led career training for nearly two decades and issues a professional certificate approved by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools alongside your Microsoft credential. Nearly two decades of that history includes grant-funded training, which is why workforce counselors know how to work with us.

Career support built into tuition

Your program includes career coaching, resume and interview preparation, the AB-730 exam voucher, a capstone portfolio of AI-assisted work products, and access to the DWC micro-internship network and alumni community. The goal is not just a passed exam; it is a professional who works differently.

WIOA and Financial Aid Options: AI for Business Professionals Certificate (AB-730)

online AI for Business professionals certification training

The AI for Business Professionals Certificate is $5,995, with the Microsoft AB-730 exam voucher included in tuition. There are no hidden fees for courseware or exam access. Most students fund their training through one of the options below; many combine more than one. Start with our financial aid overview or ask the admissions team to walk you through what you qualify for.

WIOA and Workforce Funding

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides federal grant funding for job training to unemployed and dislocated workers, managed through local American Job Centers and workforce boards. Qualified students can have training paid through an Individual Training Account, and eligibility and funding amounts are determined individually by your local workforce center based on employment status and income. The private instruction format is a real advantage here: there is no cohort calendar to wait for, so your training can begin as soon as your funding is approved. Read our WIOA funding guide, see what WIOA pays for, or ask admissions to help you connect with your local workforce center and confirm this program’s eligibility in your state.

DVR Funding

If you have a documented disability, your state’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation or an equivalent agency may fund your training. DWC has worked with vocational rehabilitation students and counselors for years and can coordinate directly with your VR office, including assessments and custom training plans where needed. Read our vocational rehabilitation guide or ask admissions how to start the conversation with your counselor.

Scholarships

DWC awards scholarships to eligible students through the following programs.

The Tech Skills Scholarship is for unemployed individuals who are returning to the workforce and need financial support to complete their training. Scholarship amounts vary and are determined on a case-by-case basis.

The Women in Tech Scholarship is for women pursuing careers in technology, design, IT, data analytics, or other technical fields. AI skills are becoming a baseline expectation across business roles, and this scholarship is designed to help women build them with a recognized credential attached.

The Next Mission Scholarship is for eligible U.S. veterans and qualifying active-duty service members within 180 days of separation. The Next Mission Scholarship provides 80% off standard tuition on this program: a qualifying veteran pays $1,199 instead of $5,995, with the remaining balance handled through Climb Credit financing or direct payment arrangements with DWC. Eligibility requires verified veteran status (DD-214 or equivalent), individual annual income between $30,000 and $75,000, and separation within the past 7 years. Veterans with income below $30,000 may qualify for fully funded training through WIOA or VA Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31) at no out-of-pocket cost. Veterans with income above $75,000 qualify for the Community Heroes Discount of 40% off standard tuition. See if you qualify or visit the Next Mission Scholarship page for full details, eligibility criteria, and required documentation.

Scholarships can be combined with other funding sources including WIOA and DVR. To inquire about current availability, contact the admissions team or visit the financial aid page.

Employer Tuition Assistance

Many employers fund AI training for their teams, because a Copilot license only pays for itself when people know how to use it. DWC invoices employers directly, provides the documentation your manager or HR team needs, and issues certificates of completion for reimbursement programs. If your company is training more than one person, ask about group rates.

Financing & Payment Plans

Flexible financing is available through Climb Credit, including a 0% interest option, with payments beginning on the first day of class. Payment plans are available regardless of where you live. See current options on our payment plan page or ask admissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Considering AI certification training is a real decision: it takes time, money, and effort, and the answers below cover what prospective students ask us most, from prerequisites and exam difficulty to WIOA funding and what the credential does for a career. If your question is not here, schedule a free info session and ask an advisor directly.

Is the Microsoft AI Business Professional certification worth it?

For most business professionals, yes. AI aptitude has become a hiring and promotion factor across ordinary business roles: in the Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 66 percent of leaders said they would not hire someone without AI skills (Source: Microsoft and LinkedIn Work Trend Index, 2024). The AB-730 credential is Microsoft’s own validation that you can use AI to get real business work done, and this program pairs it with a capstone portfolio of AI-assisted work products, so you interview with both the credential and the evidence.

How long does it take to get certified?

This program runs 78 hours over 13 weeks, two 3-hour sessions per week, with exam preparation built into the final module so most students sit the AB-730 exam shortly after finishing. Because training is delivered privately, there is no cohort calendar: you set your start date, session days, and times with your instructor, so the 13-week clock starts when you are ready rather than when a class fills.

Do I need a technical background or coding experience?

No. This program is built for business professionals in roles like marketing, finance, HR, operations, and administration. You should be comfortable in Microsoft 365 apps like Outlook, Word, and Excel, but there is no coding anywhere in the program; even the agents you build are created without writing code. If you are unsure whether your current skills are a fit, talk to an advisor before you enroll.

How hard is the AB-730 exam?

AB-730 is a proctored Microsoft certification exam that requires a score of 700 or greater to pass, and it tests practical, hands-on use of Microsoft 365 Copilot rather than theory: candidates report it goes deeper into real Copilot features than they expected. That is why this program is built around hands-on work in every domain, with a competency check at the end of each exam-aligned module and a full practice assessment before test day. Your training is aligned to the current published exam objectives.

Can WIOA pay for AI training?

WIOA funding covers job training for eligible unemployed and dislocated workers through local American Job Centers. Because training is scheduled privately, you can start as soon as your funding is approved instead of waiting for a cohort, which counselors and students both appreciate. Start with our WIOA funding guide and what WIOA pays for, then ask admissions to help you connect with your local workforce center and confirm eligibility in your state.

What does this certification do for my career?

It puts verifiable AI aptitude on your resume at a moment when employers are screening for it, and it gives you a Microsoft credential plus a portfolio of AI-assisted work products from your capstone. Students use it to advance in a current role, to strengthen a job search, and to step into the AI champion role most organizations are trying to fill. Your tuition includes career coaching for resume, portfolio, and interview preparation.

Is the exam voucher included in tuition?

Yes. Your $5,995 tuition includes the Microsoft AB-730 exam voucher, so there are no separate fees to sit the exam the first time. Retakes, if needed, are purchased separately at Microsoft pricing. Payment plans and Climb Credit financing are available for tuition regardless of where you live.

Is this program online or in person?

The program is 100% live online over Zoom, taught in real time by your instructor, never pre-recorded video. Private scheduling means sessions fit around your job, and hands-on work happens directly in Microsoft 365 Copilot, so you need a computer, webcam, and reliable internet. Your admissions advisor will confirm software access requirements before your first session. If you want to see how live online training works before enrolling, attend a free info session.
