Design and Creative Certificate Programs
Live, Instructor-Led Training in Graphic Design, UX Design, Digital Media Production, and Frontend Web Development
Digital Workshop Center’s design and creative certificate programs are live, instructor-led workforce training programs built for adults who want to move into a creative or digital role, or who are already working in one and need to build a stronger technical foundation. Every program meets in real time with an active industry professional as instructor and a small cohort working toward the same goals. No self-paced videos. No pre-recorded content. Every question gets answered in the session where it comes up.
Each program in this category leads to a higher education professional certificate issued by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. All four are eligible for WIOA workforce funding, and many students complete them at little or no out-of-pocket cost. If you are working with a workforce case manager or a Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) counselor, DWC’s admissions team can provide the full documentation package your case manager needs.

Who These Programs Are Built For
All four programs are designed for working adults, not recent graduates looking for their first experience. The common thread across students who do well in these programs is that they have operated inside organizations, understand how decisions get made, and are ready to add a high-value technical skill to what they already bring.
The specific backgrounds that transfer well vary by program, but across all four there are a few common profiles. Career changers from marketing, communications, education, healthcare, and retail bring domain expertise that complements the technical skills the programs develop. Freelancers and small business owners bring real client problems to solve. Designers and marketers who are already in adjacent roles bring professional context that makes the curriculum immediately applicable.
No prior design or development experience is required for any of these programs. Each one is structured to start from fundamentals, and each one assumes you are starting without a prior background in the field. What you do need is a reliable computer, a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. Adobe Creative Cloud programs require a paid subscription that is not included in tuition. Software requirements for each program are detailed on the individual program pages.
Paying for a Design or Creative Certificate Program
All four Design and Creative certificate programs are eligible for WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) workforce funding, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) funding, and DWC scholarship awards. Many students complete these programs at little or no out-of-pocket cost.
WIOA Workforce Funding
WIOA is a federal workforce development program administered through local American Job Centers. Eligible students can use WIOA funds to cover part or all of tuition for approved training programs. All four programs in this category are on the eligible training list. Eligibility is determined individually by your local American Job Center based on your employment status and income level.
If you are already working with a workforce case manager, bring them the program guide for the program you are considering. DWC provides case managers with a full documentation package including program descriptions and learning objectives, tuition costs and itemized fees, program duration and schedule, credential documentation, and labor market alignment data. If your case manager has specific documentation requirements, contact our admissions team directly.
State-specific WIOA guidance is available for Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois. If your state is not listed, contact our team. Eligibility varies and we can help you identify what applies to your situation.
DVR Funding
All four programs are also eligible for funding through state Divisions of Vocational Rehabilitation. DVR funding is available to students with qualifying disabilities who are working toward employment. If you are already working with a DVR counselor, DWC can coordinate directly with them and provide the documentation needed for funding approval.
DWC Scholarships
DWC awards three scholarships for eligible students: the Tech Skills Scholarship for unemployed individuals returning to work, the Women in Tech Scholarship, and the Veterans Skills Scholarship. Average scholarship awards are $2,000 for the six-month programs. Learn more and apply on the financial aid page.
Employer Tuition Assistance
Many employers offer professional development stipends or tuition reimbursement programs. If you are currently employed and adding skills that benefit your current role, it is worth asking your employer before paying out of pocket.
Financing
DWC partners with Climb Credit for student-friendly tuition loans, including a 0% interest payment plan option. Learn more on the financial aid page.
What Makes DWC Different
Live instruction, not recorded content. Every session meets in real time with an instructor who is an active practitioner in the field. When you have a question, you get an answer from someone who is doing the work, not from a forum thread or a help doc.
Small class sizes. DWC averages a 5 to 1 student-to-instructor ratio. That means your work gets seen and your questions get answered. It also means your instructor knows your professional background and can frame feedback around your specific goals.
All credentials are issued by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. Every Design and Creative certificate is a recognized higher education professional certificate, not a program-completion badge. These are the credentials that WIOA case managers and DVR counselors can document against, and the ones employers can verify.
Career support is included. Every student receives unlimited career coaching at no additional cost, covering resume review, portfolio feedback, LinkedIn profile, and interview preparation. Admissions advising, student support, tech support, and access to DWC’s micro-internship network through Parker Dewey are also included.

If you want to design the way people interact with apps and digital products, the UX Design Certificate is the path. If you want to produce video, motion graphics, and multimedia content for marketing and communications, Digital Media Production is the fit. If you want to build websites and write code, Frontend Web Development is the program. If you are still not sure, attend a free info session and speak with an instructor before you decide.

Do I need prior design or coding experience?
No. All four programs are structured to begin from fundamentals. No prior degree is required. What is expected is a reliable computer capable of running the software, a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. DWC walks every student through a technology check before the first session.
What credentials do graduates receive?
Every program awards a DWC certificate issued as a higher education professional certificate by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. These are recognized workforce credentials that meet the documentation standards of WIOA case managers and DVR counselors. The Digital Media Production program also prepares students for optional Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) exams, with fees separate from tuition.
Are these programs eligible for WIOA funding?
Yes. All four Design and Creative certificate programs are eligible for WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funding through local American Job Centers. WIOA can cover part or all of tuition for eligible students. Eligibility is determined by your local American Job Center based on your employment status and income level. DWC’s admissions team provides case managers with full program documentation. State-specific guidance is available for Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois.
Is Adobe Creative Cloud included in tuition?
No. Adobe Creative Cloud is required for the Graphic Design, Digital Media Production, and UX Design (partially) programs and is not included in tuition. Students are responsible for maintaining an active subscription for the duration of their program. Adobe offers monthly plans, annual plans, and education pricing. The Frontend Web Development Certificate does not require any paid software. Specific software requirements are listed on each program’s page and are reviewed with students before the program begins.
Are these programs taught live or self-paced?
Every session is live. There are no pre-recorded videos or self-paced modules. Students attend scheduled evening sessions with a live instructor in real time. If a student misses a session, recordings are available to review.
