Microsoft Word Beginners (Level 1)
Manual formatting is why your document keeps breaking.
Almost everyone can use Word and almost nobody was taught it. They format by selecting text and clicking buttons, which works on page one and collapses by page ten. Then a colleague edits it and everything moves.
That is not carelessness. It is the predictable result of manual formatting, and it is fixed by one concept most people have never had explained: styles. Participants who learn styles properly in this class stop having the problem entirely.
HR and learning and development leaders use this for onboarding and for staff who produce documents daily and have never had a class. Operations managers use it where document quality is inconsistent and everyone has their own method. Exercises use your own templates and document types.
Content, examples, and exercises are built around your own files and workflows before delivery. Most groups train live online, and on-site in-person delivery is available by request. This class is available by request only, with a three participant minimum, and sits alongside our other Microsoft Office training.
This course includes
- Live, instructor led class delivered across two sessions
- Hands on work with your own templates and document types
- Styles taught as the thing that prevents documents from breaking
- Practical work with tables, images, and review tools
- Digital learning materials and take home reference guides
- Certificate of completion for every participant
Description
The first session is why documents break. Participants learn what is actually happening when they select text and click bold, why that formatting does not survive contact with another editor, and how styles solve it. Most have never heard the explanation and several report it reframes twenty years of frustration.
The middle is construction. Participants work with styles, headings, lists, and spacing, and learn to build a document that holds its shape. They practice with tables and images, which are where most documents visibly fall apart, and learn to anchor and position things so they stay put.
The final session is producing finished work. Page setup, headers and footers, page numbering, and review tools including track changes and comments. Participants rebuild a document they actually use, and leave with a version that will not need rebuilding again.
