AI Agents and Automated Marketing Workflows

An agent that acts without oversight is not automation. It is risk.

Rules-based automation does exactly what you told it. An agent decides what to do, which is the whole appeal and the entire problem. The failure mode is different in kind: not a broken rule, but a confident sequence of reasonable-looking steps that ends somewhere you would never have chosen.

This workshop is about using that capability without being harmed by it. Participants learn where an agent genuinely outperforms a rule and where it just adds unpredictability to something that worked, then design a real workflow with the checkpoints in the right places.

Working marketers take this when they are already comfortable with AI and want the next stage. It is the most advanced class in the series and assumes you have used these tools seriously. Marketers newer to AI should start with AI Marketing for Beginners. Organizations governing AI more broadly can look at our AI training track.

Content, tools, and examples are built around your own business and marketing before delivery. Most groups train live online, and on-site in-person delivery is available by request. This workshop is available by request only, with a three participant minimum, and sits alongside our other digital marketing workshops.

This course includes

  • Live, instructor led workshop delivered in two 4-hour sessions
  • A real agentic workflow designed across your own marketing tools
  • Practical work on where to place human checkpoints
  • Governance, monitoring, and honest assessment of the limits
  • Digital learning materials and take home reference guides
  • Certificate of completion for every participant

Description

The day opens on the distinction, because most of the confusion lives here. Participants work out what an agent actually is, how it differs from the automation they already run, and why the difference matters for what can go wrong. They examine failure modes: the plausible plan built on a wrong assumption, and the loop that costs money quietly.

The middle is design. Participants build a real workflow across their own tools, and learn to decompose a task into steps an agent can carry out and steps it should not. They work out where to put a human checkpoint, which is the whole discipline: too many and you have made a slow rule, too few and you have made a liability.

The day closes on governance and honest evaluation. Participants learn to define what an agent may and may not do, monitor for drift, and test before pointing it at anything customer-facing. They also assess where agentic AI is currently oversold, because knowing what not to automate is worth as much as knowing what to.
