Adobe Illustrator Advanced (Level 2)
The shape is close. Close does not print.
Advanced Illustrator is mostly about two things: making the thing you meant rather than the thing that looked about right, and building it so that changing it later is not a punishment. Neither is glamorous and both separate a professional file from a competent-looking one.
Participants work on artwork complex enough to expose their habits. The path built with forty points where six would do. The logo where the curve is nearly symmetrical. The brand file where changing one color means touching thirty objects.
Working designers take this to sharpen construction and stop fighting their own files. In-house teams take it to build brand systems that hold together. It counts toward the Graphic Design and Digital Media Production certificates.
Content and exercises are built around real work, and private group sessions are built around your own brand, templates, and files. Classes are delivered live online, and on-site delivery is available across the Colorado Front Range. This class sits alongside our other Adobe Creative Cloud classes.
This course includes
- Live, instructor led class delivered across four sessions
- Precision construction work on genuinely complex artwork
- Rebuilding your own brand artwork as a system that propagates changes
- Production preparation including spot colors, overprint, and packaging
- Digital learning materials and take home reference guides
- Certificate of completion for every participant
Description
The first sessions are precision construction. Participants learn to build with as few points as the shape requires, use alignment and geometry rather than eyeballing, and work with the tools that produce accurate results instead of near ones. Most discover their curves have been approximate for years.
The middle is systems: symbols, graphic styles, global colors, and appearance attributes used so a change happens once and propagates everywhere. Participants rebuild a piece of their own brand artwork as a system and see what a rebrand actually costs when the file was built properly versus not.
The final sessions are complex artwork and production. Blends, gradient meshes, clipping, and effects applied non-destructively. Then output: preparing files for a printer, handling spot colors and overprint, packaging assets, and producing the deliverables a production partner needs without a follow-up email.
