A PivotTable is the highest return per hour of anything in Excel. Someone spending a day a month building summaries by hand can usually replace it with about twenty minutes of work, and most people have either never been shown or tried once and got a mess.
The mess is almost always the source data, which is the part skipped in every tutorial. This workshop starts there, because a pivot built on badly structured data will produce a confident wrong answer rather than an error.
Operations, finance, and reporting leaders use this where staff are manually summarizing data that a pivot would handle. It is the most requested Excel topic at DWC for a reason. Participants work on their own datasets and leave with working reports.
Content, datasets, and examples are built around your actual work before delivery. Most groups train live online, and on-site in-person delivery is available by request. Description
The first session is source data and the basics, in that order. Participants learn what a pivot needs in order to work and why the layout most people build by instinct will not, then fix their own data and build their first real summary. Most see the day pay for itself in the first hour.
The rest of the first session and into the second is control. Participants learn to slice by any dimension without rebuilding, group dates and values into the buckets that matter, filter interactively so a manager can explore rather than request, and lay out a pivot for a reader rather than an analyst.
The second session closes on calculation and trust. Participants learn to calculate inside the pivot, and, more importantly, when a pivot is quietly misleading them: the filter they forgot, the blank that is being counted, the total that is not the sum of what is shown. They leave able to check a pivot rather than assume it.

Participants should be comfortable entering data and navigating a spreadsheet. Formula experience helps but is not required. Those new to Excel should start with Microsoft Excel Beginners (Level 1).
