Adobe After Effects Advanced (Level 2)

It moves. It does not look like anyone meant it to.

The animation plays and something is off. Not broken, just slightly cheap, and nobody in the room can name what. That gap is almost always timing, spacing, and follow-through, and it is fixable once someone shows you what to look at.

This class is the polish and the leverage. Expressions so a change happens once instead of across forty keyframes. Compositing that survives scrutiny. And essential graphics templates, which is the one that changes how a team works: build the lower third once, hand it to an editor, and they never open After Effects.

Motion designers take this to sharpen craft. Video teams take it to stop being the bottleneck for every title card. It counts toward the Digital Media Production Certificate.

Content and exercises are built around real work, and private group sessions are built around your own brand, templates, and files. Classes are delivered live online, and on-site delivery is available across the Colorado Front Range. This class sits alongside our other Adobe Creative Cloud classes.

This course includes

  • Live, instructor led class delivered across four sessions
  • Graph editor work on animation that plays but reads as cheap
  • Expressions taught for people who are not programmers
  • Essential graphics templates an editor can drive from Premiere
  • Digital learning materials and take home reference guides
  • Certificate of completion for every participant

Description

The first sessions are the polish problem. Participants take work that technically plays and learn to see why it reads as cheap: linear motion, uniform timing, no overlap or follow-through. They fix it with the graph editor rather than guessing, and most report that this session alone changes their output permanently.

The middle is expressions and systems. Expressions to drive properties, link layers, and automate repetition, taught for people who are not programmers. Shape and text systems built so a rebrand or a copy change is a field edit. Then essential graphics templates: packaging a graphic so an editor can drive it from Premiere without touching After Effects.

The final sessions are compositing and pipeline. Tracking, keying, rotoscoping, and matte work that holds at full resolution. Then render management, proxies, and pre-composing strategy, so complex projects stay workable and overnight renders stop being routine.

What You'll Learn at a Glance

  • Use the graph editor rather than guessing at easing
  • Write expressions to link properties and automate repetition
  • Build shape and text systems where a change is a field edit
  • Package essential graphics templates for editors in Premiere
  • Track, key, and roto so the composite holds at full resolution
  • Manage renders and pre-comps so complex projects stay workable
