Time Management Fundamentals
Busy is not the same as productive. Your team knows the difference.
Most time management training hands people a system and moves on. The system survives about a week, because it was never built for an environment with unplanned work, competing requests, and a calendar somebody else controls. This workshop starts from that environment.
The cost to an organization is not laziness. It is capable people who are genuinely busy and still miss things, deadlines that slip without warning until the day they are due, and a team where the reliable person quietly absorbs everyone else's overflow until they leave.
Operations and department managers use this where deadlines are slipping and nobody can say why. HR and learning and development leaders use it in onboarding, or where workload complaints and burnout signals are rising. It covers managing the work you have; deciding which work to do at all is Prioritization Skills for the Workplace.
Content, scenarios, and examples are built around your actual work before delivery. Most groups train live online, and on-site in-person delivery is available by request. This workshop is available by request only, with a three participant minimum, and sits alongside our other workforce development workshops for teams.
This course includes
- Live, instructor led half-day workshop
- A real audit of each participant's current week
- Planning structures built for interruption rather than ideal conditions
- Practical techniques for estimation, focus, and renegotiating deadlines
- Digital learning materials and take home reference guides
- Certificate of completion for every participant
Description
The session opens with where the time actually goes, which is almost never where people think. Participants map a real week, find the gap between planned and actual, and identify the specific patterns that cost them most. Most discover the problem is not the big tasks but the accumulated cost of switching between them.
The middle is planning that holds up. Participants build a weekly and daily structure with deliberate slack, because a plan with no room for the unexpected fails on Tuesday. They practice honest estimation, learn why their estimates are consistently optimistic and by roughly how much, and build in the buffer that makes a commitment real.
The last stretch is protecting the plan. Participants work on focus in an environment designed to interrupt, handling the request that arrives mid-task, and renegotiating a deadline early rather than apologizing late. They leave with a structure built around their actual week, not a generic one.
