Jira Fundamentals for the Workplace
Jira Training for Teams: Fundamentals of Projects, Boards, and Issues
Jira Fundamentals for the Workplace is a live, instructor-led class that takes true beginners to confident intermediate use in two hands-on sessions, delivered online via Zoom or on-site on the Colorado Front Range.
The first session builds your foundation. You will learn how Jira organizes work into projects, boards, and issues, create a project from scratch, work with issue types including epics, stories, tasks, and subtasks, assign owners and due dates so responsibilities are clear, and move team conversations into comments, mentions, and linked issues instead of email.
The second session covers boards, workflows, and team practices. You will plan work on Kanban and Scrum boards and the backlog, learn how statuses and transitions move work across the board, save searches and filters you will reuse, get a first look at JQL, and apply starter automation rules such as due date reminders and auto-assignment. The class closes with a guided build of a project for your own team's real workflow.
Classes are available by request; there is no public schedule posted. Contact DWC to arrange a session for your team.
This course includes

Description
Jira is where thousands of teams plan, track, and deliver their work. When every team sets it up differently, though, boards fill with stale issues and the tool becomes one more place to check. In Jira Fundamentals for the Workplace, you will learn to build projects and boards that match how your team actually works, track ownership and deadlines, and collaborate in one place instead of scattered email threads.
This is a hands-on class. You will work in a live Jira environment alongside the instructor, building a real project during class: creating issues, epics, and subtasks, assigning owners and due dates, moving work across Kanban and Scrum boards, running basic searches and saved filters, and applying your first automation rules to cut repetitive manual updates. You will finish by setting up a project for your own team's real workflow.
Jira classes at Digital Workshop Center focus on experiential learning, where students learn from an expert instructor in a small, hands-on class. Our job is to make new tools easy for you to understand and immediately apply on the job, so your team gets a consistent, productive way of working from day one.
