Excel Master Program

Complete Microsoft Excel training from beginner to advanced. Five courses, one program, and the Excel skills that employers list in nearly every job posting.

Excel proficiency appears in more job postings than any other single software skill. Whether you are building a career in finance, operations, HR, marketing, project management, or administration, employers expect you to know Excel. Not just the basics. They expect formulas, PivotTables, data analysis, and the ability to build professional reports without asking someone else to do it.

The Excel Master Program at Digital Workshop Center is a structured package of five Excel courses that takes you from foundational skills through advanced formulas, PivotTables, automation, and data analysis. Every class is live, instructor-led, and built around hands-on exercises that teach you how Excel is used in real workplaces. You finish the program with the skills to handle any spreadsheet task an employer puts in front of you, a DWC certificate of completion, and preparation for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel certification exams.

The program is designed for adults building new job skills, professionals adding Excel proficiency to their resume, and career changers who need a credential employers recognize. WIOA funding, DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation), and other financial aid may cover the cost in the states we serve.

What Is in the Excel Master Program

What is in the Excel Master Program

Excel courses that build on each other in a logical progression from foundational skills to expert-level data analysis.

Excel Beginners (Level 1) (Prerequisite) The starting point for students new to Excel. Covers spreadsheet navigation, data entry, formatting, basic formulas (SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT), sorting, filtering, and chart creation. Level 1 is a prerequisite for the Excel Master Program and ensures every student enters the core courses with a solid foundation.

If you already have basic Excel experience, our admissions team can help you determine whether you can skip directly to Level 2.  The cost of a Level class is not included in the tuition but can be added on.

Excel Intermediate (Level 2) Builds stronger reporting skills with conditional formulas (IF, COUNTIF, SUMIF, AVERAGEIF), conditional formatting, data validation, named ranges, and more efficient approaches to building professional reports.

Excel Advanced (Level 3) Covers workflow automation with macros, data consolidation from multiple sources, what-if analysis and scenario tools, and workbook collaboration. This course teaches you to build spreadsheets that work smarter, not harder.

Excel Advanced Formulas and Functions A specialized deep dive into Excel’s most powerful formula tools. Covers VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested functions, array formulas, and text, date, and logical function combinations. This is the course that separates competent Excel users from Excel experts.

Excel PivotTables Teaches you to analyze, summarize, and explore large datasets in minutes instead of hours. Covers building PivotTables from scratch, grouping and filtering data, calculated fields, PivotCharts, and turning raw data into clear insights for reporting and decision making.

Program format: Each course is 7 hours, delivered across 2 live online sessions (3.5 hours per session). The full program is 27 hours of live instruction across 8 sessions, plus practice time between sessions.  When necessary, Level 1 (Beginners) can be added on to your tuition.

AI in Excel: What You Need to Know Now

AI in Excel

AI is changing how Excel works. The Excel Master Program prepares you for both the fundamentals and what comes next.

Microsoft has embedded AI capabilities throughout Excel that are changing how professionals work with data. Copilot in Excel can generate formulas from natural language descriptions, suggest PivotTable layouts, identify trends in datasets, and produce visualizations from plain-text prompts. These features are powerful, but they are tools for people who already understand how Excel works, not replacements for that understanding.

Here is why that matters for your career: an employer who sees “Excel proficient” on your resume in 2026 expects you to understand formulas, PivotTables, data modeling, and reporting structure. They also increasingly expect you to know how to use AI tools within Excel to work faster. The professionals who thrive are the ones who can do both: build a spreadsheet from scratch when the situation demands it, and use AI-assisted features to accelerate the work when the tools are available.

The Excel Master Program builds the foundational and advanced skills that make AI tools useful. You cannot evaluate whether Copilot’s suggested formula is correct if you do not understand how VLOOKUP works. You cannot judge whether an AI-generated PivotTable layout makes sense if you have never built one yourself. The program teaches you Excel from the ground up so that when you use AI features, you use them with understanding, not blind trust.

Your instructor will also demonstrate current AI capabilities in Excel during the program, so you see how these tools work in practice and understand where they help and where they fall short.

Certification Prep: MOS Excel Associate and Expert

The Excel Master Program prepares you to sit for two industry-recognized Microsoft certifications.

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is the world’s most widely recognized credential for Microsoft Office proficiency. It is backed by Microsoft, administered through Certiport, and recognized by employers, academic institutions, and governments in over 140 countries.

The Excel Master Program curriculum aligns with both MOS Excel certification exams:

MO-210: Microsoft Excel Associate (Microsoft 365 Apps)

MO-210: Microsoft Excel Associate (Microsoft 365 Apps) assesses foundational Excel skills including worksheet and workbook management, data manipulation, table management, formula and function operations, and chart creation. The Beginners, Intermediate, and PivotTables courses in the Excel Master Program directly cover these competency areas.

MO-211: Microsoft Excel Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps)

MO-211: Microsoft Excel Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps) assesses advanced skills including complex formulas, macros, advanced data management, and workbook collaboration. The Advanced, Advanced Formulas, and PivotTables courses in the Excel Master Program directly cover these competency areas.

Passing both the MO-210 and MO-211 exams earns you the MOS Excel Associate and MOS Excel Expert certifications. These credentials demonstrate validated, hands-on Excel proficiency to any employer.

Important note: The Excel Master Program prepares you for these exams but does not include the exam fee or proctoring. MOS exams are administered separately through Certiport testing centers. Your admissions advisor can provide guidance on exam registration and preparation.

Excel Master Program vs. Business Administration Certificate

Excel Master Program vs Business Administration Certification

Two paths. Different goals. Here is how to choose.

If you are deciding between the Excel Master Program and the Business Administration Certificate, the right choice depends on what you need.

Choose the Excel Master Program if: You want deep, expert-level Excel skills and your career goal is a role where Excel proficiency is the primary technical requirement. Roles like data entry specialist, reporting analyst, financial analyst, operations coordinator, or administrative professional with heavy spreadsheet responsibilities. The Excel Master Program gives you more Excel depth than any other program at DWC, including preparation for both MOS Excel certification exams. It is shorter, more focused, and less expensive than the Business Administration Certificate.

Choose the Business Administration Certificate if: You want a broader set of business and administrative skills that go beyond Excel. The Business Administration Certificate includes Excel training (with a strong focus), but also covers Google Workspace, business communication, collaboration tools, and workplace soft skills. It is a six-month, $5,295 program designed for career changers entering office, operations, or administrative support roles who need a well-rounded foundation. It includes career coaching and portfolio projects.

Both programs include: Live, instructor-led classes. Small class sizes. Hands-on, real-world exercises. A DWC certificate of completion. Eligibility for WIOA and DVR funding in the states we serve.
