Business Administration Certificate

Private, One-on-One Live Instruction in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Professional Business Skills

The DWC Business Administration Certificate is delivered as private, one-on-one live instruction with a working professional as your instructor. This is not a group class where the pace is set by the slowest or fastest person in the room. It is you and your instructor, working through 83 hours of structured curriculum at a pace that matches what you already know and what you need to learn.

The program covers seven modules: professional business communication and leadership, Microsoft Word through advanced document production, Microsoft Excel from fundamentals through macros and PivotTables, Microsoft PowerPoint through advanced presentation design, Microsoft Outlook for professional communication and scheduling, Google Workspace for cloud-based collaboration, and a capstone project. The curriculum aligns to the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification pathway and covers the tested objectives for both the Associate and Expert level exams in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Graduates receive the DWC Business Administration Certificate, issued as a higher education professional certificate by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. Because this is private instruction, you pick your start date. There is no waiting for a cohort to form. Contact the admissions team, choose a schedule that works, and begin when you are ready.

Why Private Instruction Changes Everything

Why private instruction changes everything

Why Private Instruction Produces Better Results

Most business administration training falls into one of two categories. Group classes and community college courses move at a fixed pace and cannot adapt to what you already know or where you need more time. Self-paced video platforms give you no live feedback, and no one reviews your spreadsheet or tells you that your mail merge is pulling the wrong fields. Neither format produces the demonstrated, verifiable proficiency that employers screen for when they need someone who can actually run an office.

This program works differently. Every session is a private meeting between you and your instructor. If you are an experienced Word user, you move through the Word module quickly and spend that time on the Excel material that matters more to your goals. If you are being hired into a role built around PivotTables and reporting, your instructor can focus the exercises on the kind of data your employer actually works with. When a PivotTable is not summarizing the way you expected, your instructor is looking at the same screen and can explain exactly what happened and how to fix it.

Private instruction also means scheduling flexibility. You choose your start date, your session days, and your session times. Evening and daytime sessions are available, and if you need to reschedule, you work that out directly with your instructor. If your timeline is compressed because a job starts in three months, that is a conversation with your instructor and the admissions team rather than a calendar you are locked into.

Career coaching, admissions advising, student support, technical support, and access to the DWC micro-internship network through Parker Dewey are included for every student at no additional cost.

How This Program Maps to Microsoft Office Specialist Certification

How This Program Maps to Microsoft Office Specialist Certification

The curriculum is structured to cover all exam objectives for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification pathway, from Associate through Expert. MOS is one of the most widely recognized technology credentials in the professional workforce, and the Expert designation demonstrates advanced proficiency that employers in business, finance, healthcare, and government actively screen for.

MOS Associate Certification

Requires passing any three of these four exams.

Exam Covered in What the exam tests
MO-110: Word Associate Module 2, Word Level 1 Creating, editing, and formatting professional documents; tables, graphics, and page layout
MO-210: Excel Associate Module 3, Excel Levels 1 and 2 Worksheets, formulas, functions, charts, data organization, and basic PivotTables
MO-310: PowerPoint Associate Module 4, PowerPoint Level 1 Building presentations, graphics and media, animations, transitions, and delivery preparation
MO-410: Outlook Associate Module 5, Outlook Email composition and management, contacts, calendar scheduling, tasks, and meeting coordination

MOS Expert Certification

Requires MOS Associate plus passing both Expert exams.

Exam Covered in What the exam tests
MO-111: Word Expert Module 2, Word Level 2 Advanced formatting, styles and themes, templates, mail merge, macros, and document automation
MO-211: Excel Expert Module 3, Excel Level 3 and PivotTables Advanced formulas, macros, developer tools, data auditing, workbook linking, data import and export, advanced PivotTables and PivotCharts

The DWC Business Administration Certificate covers the full content needed for all four Associate exams and both Expert exams. That is the complete MOS Expert pathway in a single program. Students who pass three Associate exams and both Expert exams earn the Microsoft Office Specialist: Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps) designation, the highest level of the MOS credential.

MOS exam fees are not included in tuition. Exams are administered through Certiport and cost approximately $100 to $150 per exam. The full Expert designation requires passing five exams. Students are not required to take any MOS exams to graduate from the DWC program, but the curriculum is built so that students who choose to pursue certification have covered every tested objective before they sit for the exams.

What You Will Learn

What you will learn in Business Administration

What You Will Learn

The curriculum covers seven modules totaling 83 hours of private live instruction. Business soft skills come first because they are the context in which the technical tools operate. Microsoft Office applications are taught in depth across four modules, with Excel receiving the deepest treatment because it is the application that matters most in administrative and operations roles. Google Workspace adds cloud-based collaboration, and the capstone ties everything together.

Handling all employee-related matters, human resource specialists serve as a mediator between employees and management while ensuring the rules of the workplace comply with state and federal regulations.

Why DWC Trains Differently

Why DWC trains differently

Most business administration training falls into one of two categories: community college courses that take an entire semester to cover what a focused program can deliver in weeks, or self-paced video platforms where no one reviews your spreadsheets or tells you that your mail merge is pulling the wrong fields. Neither format produces the demonstrated, verifiable proficiency that employers screen for when they need someone who can actually run an office.

DWC’s program is private, live instruction with a working professional as your instructor. Every session is focused entirely on your work, your questions, and your pace. When you build a PivotTable that is not summarizing the way you expected, your instructor is looking at the same screen and can explain exactly what happened and how to fix it. When you are preparing for a role that requires advanced Excel and your Word skills are already strong, your instructor shifts the time accordingly rather than making you sit through material you already know. That kind of responsiveness is not possible in a group class or a recorded video, and it is why private instruction produces stronger outcomes for adult learners in this field.

Career coaching, admissions advising, student support, tech support, and access to DWC’s micro-internship network through Parker Dewey are all included for every student at no additional cost.

WIOA and Financial Aid Options: Business Administration

online business administration certificate program

The Business Administration Certificate is eligible for workforce funding, scholarships, employer tuition assistance, and flexible financing. Expand any section below to learn how to fund your program.

WIOA and Workforce Funding

The Business Administration Certificate is eligible for WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funding, a federal workforce development program administered through local American Job Centers. WIOA can cover part or all of tuition for eligible individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking to change careers.

Administrative and business support roles represent one of the largest and most consistently hiring occupational categories in the economy, with roughly 358,300 openings per year projected through 2034. At $5,295 for 83 hours of private live instruction, this program sits within the typical WIOA individual training account range and prepares students for the full Microsoft Office Specialist pathway from Associate through Expert.

Your local American Job Center determines eligibility based on your employment status and income level. If approved, your case manager authorizes funding through an Individual Training Account (ITA). DWC is listed as an eligible training provider and works directly with case managers to provide everything they need to process a funding request.

DWC prepares a complete documentation package for every WIOA-funded student, including:

  • Program description and learning objectives
  • Tuition and itemized costs
  • Program schedule and duration
  • Credential documentation for the DPOS professional certificate
  • Labor market alignment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Student performance and completion outcomes data

Because this is private instruction, the schedule is set after enrollment based on the student’s availability. The admissions team can provide the case manager with an estimated start date and completion timeline during the approval process. If your case manager has requirements beyond this standard package, the admissions team will work with them directly.

DWC is approved to operate and enroll students in Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois. Students from other states are welcome to enroll. If your state is not listed, contact the admissions team to discuss eligibility and funding options in your area.

Not sure if you qualify? Contact your local American Job Center to start the eligibility process, or contact DWC admissions and we can help you identify the right workforce resources for your situation.

DVR Funding

The Business Administration Certificate is eligible for funding through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). DVR provides training funding for individuals with documented disabilities who are working toward employment, and services are available in every state through state-run vocational rehabilitation agencies.

Business administration and office support roles are among the most accessible career paths for DVR-funded students. The work is performed entirely on a computer, the program is delivered 100% online, and administrative roles exist in every industry and community, including many organizations that offer remote and hybrid positions.

The private one-on-one format is particularly well suited to DVR clients because the pace, emphasis, and teaching approach adapt to each student’s individual learning needs. If you have a physical, cognitive, sensory, or learning disability that affects how you process information or how long you can sustain focus in a session, your instructor adjusts rather than asking you to keep up with a group.

Students who have completed DWC’s Blueprint Basic Digital Literacy Certificate can continue directly into the Business Administration Certificate as a natural next step. DVR counselors who funded a client’s Blueprint program can use the same documentation and coordination process to fund this program as a continuation of the employment plan.

If you are already working with a DVR counselor, they can contact DWC directly to initiate enrollment and coordinate funding approval. DWC’s admissions team has experience working with DVR offices across multiple states and handles the documentation, scheduling coordination, and progress reporting that counselors require.

If you think you may be eligible but do not yet have a counselor, contact your state vocational rehabilitation agency to begin intake. Eligibility is based on having a documented disability that creates a barrier to employment. DWC can provide program information to support your application.

Scholarships

DWC awards scholarships through the programs below. Scholarship availability is limited for private instruction programs, so contact the admissions team for current availability.

Tech Skills Scholarship. For unemployed individuals returning to the workforce who need financial support to complete their training. Amounts vary and are determined case by case.

Women in Tech Scholarship. For women pursuing careers in technology, design, IT, data analytics, and other technical fields. Administrative and business support roles are the backbone of every organization, and professionals who hold Microsoft Office Specialist certification at the Expert level are consistently among the highest paid in the administrative workforce. This scholarship helps women build those credentials.

Next Mission Scholarship. For eligible U.S. veterans and qualifying active-duty service members within 180 days of separation. The scholarship provides 80% off standard tuition, which brings the Business Administration Certificate from $5,295 to $1,059, with the remaining balance financed through Climb Credit. Eligibility requires verified veteran status (DD-214 or equivalent), individual annual income between $30,000 and $75,000, and separation within the past 7 years. Veterans with income below $30,000 may qualify for fully funded training through WIOA or VA Vocational Rehabilitation at no out-of-pocket cost. Veterans with income above $75,000 qualify for the Community Heroes Discount of 40% off standard tuition. See if you qualify.

To ask about current scholarship availability for this program, contact the admissions team or visit the financial aid page.

Employer Tuition Assistance

Many employers offer professional development budgets, tuition reimbursement, or workforce training stipends that can be applied to DWC certificate programs. If you are currently employed and your employer supports professional development, the Business Administration Certificate may be partially or fully covered by existing benefits.

Microsoft Office proficiency is the single most common technology requirement in administrative, operations, and business support job postings. If your employer has ever lost time to a spreadsheet that does not calculate correctly, a mail merge that fails, a presentation that looks unprofessional, or a report that takes hours because no one on the team knows PivotTables, this program solves that problem. The curriculum covers Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook from fundamentals through Expert-level proficiency, plus Google Workspace for organizations that run both platforms.

If you are not sure how to open the conversation, DWC has a step-by-step guide on how to ask your employer to pay for professional development, with talking points, email templates, and tips on framing the request as a business investment. DWC can also provide a program summary document covering curriculum, credential outcomes, and employer benefit. Contact the admissions team to request it.

If your employer wants to train multiple team members, DWC offers group training options in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 applications. Contact us to discuss employer-sponsored enrollment or team training.

Financing & Payment Plans

For students paying out of pocket, DWC partners with Climb Credit for tuition financing. Climb Credit offers fixed monthly payments with terms up to 36 months, no prepayment penalties, and an online application with fast approval. Reduced payments during active training are available on qualifying plans. Apply through Climb Credit to see your personalized options, or visit the payment plan page for more details.

DWC also accepts direct payment by credit card or bank transfer. Contact the admissions team to discuss payment options.

Costs not included in tuition

  • A Microsoft 365 subscription is required for the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook modules and is available as a monthly subscription. Google Workspace is browser based and free.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist exam fees are paid separately through Certiport at approximately $100 to $150 per exam. The full Expert designation requires five exams. Taking them is optional but recommended for students entering the job market. The curriculum covers all exam objectives, and exam preparation guidance is included in the final module.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Business Administration Certificate at Digital Workshop Center is a career-focused program designed for adults who want to build professional office, operations, and administrative skills. Students gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (with a strong focus on Excel), Google Workspace, business communication, and workplace productivity tools while developing essential soft skills. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about program length, schedule, cost, funding options (including WIOA), technology requirements, and career support.

Do I need prior business or computer experience?

No. The program starts from fundamentals. Because this is private instruction, your instructor adjusts the pace to where you are.

When can I start?

You choose your start date. No cohort to wait for. Contact the admissions team to set a schedule.

Is this program eligible for WIOA funding?

Yes. DWC provides full documentation for case managers. State-specific guidance is available for Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois.

How long does the program take?

The program is 83 hours of private instruction. At the standard pace of two sessions per week at 3.5 hours each, most students finish in about 12 weeks. Students who meet less often, or who pause for work or family reasons, take longer. Your instructor and the admissions team will set a realistic completion target with you before you start.

What if my schedule changes mid-program?

Because instruction is private, you reschedule directly with your instructor. There is no cohort calendar to fall behind.
