Description
Security+ is the credential employers most often list for a first cybersecurity role, and it is the natural next step for IT support professionals and CompTIA A+ or Network+ holders moving into security. It is vendor-neutral, so what you learn applies to any employer's technology stack.
This program prepares you for the current CompTIA Security+ exam and for the work behind it. Every module pairs live instruction with hands-on practice in official CompTIA CertMaster Labs, where you work the daily tasks of a security analyst: monitoring a SIEM, analyzing logs, running vulnerability scans, and responding to incidents. Scenario exercises follow the exam's performance-based question (PBQ) format, so test day feels familiar.
Classes are small and taught live over Zoom by a security professional, never pre-recorded video. Your instructor watches you work a scan, a log, or an incident, corrects your process on the spot, and uses practice exam results to focus review time where the class needs it most. You finish with the DWC CompTIA Security+ Certificate, a professional certificate issued by Digital Workshop Center, and an exam voucher to earn the CompTIA Security+ certification.
Security+ may satisfy foundational qualification requirements under the DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program, which makes it relevant for veterans and for federal, military, and defense contractor roles. Confirm the requirement for a specific position with the hiring agency or contractor.

Overview
CompTIA Security+ Certification Training: Live Online Cybersecurity Classes with CertMaster Labs
This 48-hour program follows the current published CompTIA Security+ exam domains across six modules, delivered in sixteen 3-hour live sessions, two per week, over about eight weeks.
The program opens with General Security Concepts (6 hours), where you classify security controls, work with the CIA triad and zero trust, and learn how hashing, encryption, and PKI protect data, finishing with a hands-on lab on certificates and hashing. Threats, Vulnerabilities, and Mitigations (9 hours) follows: threat actors and vectors, social engineering including AI-assisted phishing, malware, password and injection attacks, and the indicators that reveal them in logs and traffic. Security Architecture (6 hours) covers enterprise, cloud, virtualized, IoT, and ICS environments, protecting data at rest, in transit, and in use, and the backup, failover, and continuity planning that keep an organization running.
Security Operations (12 hours) is the largest module because it is the daily work of the analyst roles this certificate targets: secure baselines and hardening, the vulnerability management lifecycle, identity and access management, SIEM monitoring and log analysis, and the incident response lifecycle, with labs that take you through vulnerability scans and an incident end to end. Security Program Management and Oversight (9 hours) covers governance, risk analysis with hands-on risk calculations, vendor and supply chain risk, privacy, audits, and penetration testing. The program closes with Exam Preparation and Capstone (6 hours): domain review, PBQ practice, a full timed practice exam, exam scheduling and voucher use, and a capstone incident scenario.
Graduates are prepared to pursue entry-level roles including SOC Analyst (Tier 1), Security Analyst, Incident Response Analyst, and Compliance Analyst. Lesson content and order may vary based on instructor approach and changes in the industry.

Prerequisites
- No formal prerequisites. You should be comfortable with computers and have foundational networking knowledge, such as IP addressing, routing, and switching.
- Missing the networking foundation? DWC recommends CompTIA Network+ first. Career changers starting from zero often begin with CompTIA A+.
- A computer with a webcam and reliable internet access. Labs run in your browser through CompTIA CertMaster Labs. Review the equipment and software requirements.
