At DWC, we believe the people who carry communities forward deserve straightforward access to career development. The Community Heroes Discount reduces tuition by 40% for anyone currently working in a qualifying role, with no lengthy application process and no waiting for an award decision.
If you are a veteran within 7 years of service and your individual income falls between $30,000 and $75,000, the Next Mission Scholarship provides a larger discount of 80% off tuition.
Check your eligibility there first. If you do not qualify for the Next Mission Scholarship, the Community Heroes Discount applies to you automatically with no income restriction and no time-since-service requirement.
Who Qualifies for the Community Heroes Discount
The 40% discount is available to anyone currently working full time or part time in one of the following roles. Verification of current employment is required.
- Active nurses and healthcare professionals
- K-12 and postsecondary teachers and educators
- First responders including EMTs and paramedics
- Firefighters (career and volunteer)
- Law enforcement and police officers
- Full-time college students (current enrollment verification required)
- Veterans and military spouses not qualifying for the Next Mission Scholarship
To verify your role, fill out the form on this page and upload a photo ID showing your name, job title, and employer. A pay stub may be uploaded as a supporting document if your ID does not show your job title. DWC staff verify submissions and send your discount code within 2 business days.
How the Community Heroes Discount Works
The discount is applied at registration using the code sent after verification. Unlike scholarships, there is no separate application, no award committee, and no waiting period beyond the 2-business-day verification window. The process is straightforward by design.
The discount applies to:
- All nine DWC certificate programs
- Individual professional development classes and workshops
Combining with a payment plan:
The Community Heroes Discount can be combined with Climb Credit financing for the remaining balance after the discount is applied. Climb Credit specializes in career-focused training programs and considers the return on investment of the program alongside credit history. Approval is typically within minutes and a soft credit check is used for the initial application. This makes even the longer certificate programs manageable on a working salary.
The discount may not be combined with any other DWC discount or promotional offer. Some restrictions may apply. Contact the DWC admissions team with eligibility questions.
Veterans: You Have a Dedicated Scholarship
Veterans have a separate, larger scholarship available that was built specifically for the transition from military service into a civilian technology career.
The Next Mission Scholarship provides 80% off standard tuition for qualifying veterans, with the remaining 20% financed through Climb Credit for longer programs and paid directly to DWC in two payments for shorter programs. Monthly Climb Credit payments on the remaining balance run as low as $41 per month.
You qualify for the Next Mission Scholarship if:
- You hold an honorable or general (under honorable conditions) discharge
- Your separation date is within the past 7 years
- Your individual annual income from all sources is between $30,000 and $75,000
The Community Heroes Discount still applies to veterans who:
- Separated more than 7 years ago
- Have individual income above $75,000
- Do not have an eligible DD-214
DWC was an approved provider under the original VET TEC program. Changes to VET TEC 2.0 eligibility requirements for online non-accredited programs removed DWC from the approved provider list. The Next Mission Scholarship was built to fill that gap. Veterans who do not qualify for the Next Mission Scholarship or VET TEC may also be eligible for fully funded training through VA Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31) or a WIOA Individual Training Account. Both programs can cover full tuition with no out-of-pocket cost for eligible veterans.

The 40% discount applies to all of the following certificate programs. Each program runs on a part-time cohort schedule with live instructor-led sessions, 7 to 9 hours per week, and includes career coaching and portfolio development.
- Data Analytics Certificate — 198 hours, 22 to 28 weeks
- Digital Media Production Certificate — 168 hours, 19 to 24 weeks
- Digital Marketing Certificate — 198 hours, 22 to 28 weeks
- Frontend Web Development Certificate — 198 hours, 22 to 28 weeks
- UX Design Certificate — 198 hours, 22 to 28 weeks
- Advanced Graphic Design Certificate — 115.5 hours, 13 to 17 weeks
- Project Management Certificate — 42 hours, 6 weeks
- CompTIA A+ Certification Prep — 42 hours, 6 weeks (includes exam vouchers)
- CompTIA Network+ Certification Prep — 42 hours, 6 weeks (includes exam voucher)
