Who qualifies for the Community Heroes Discount
You qualify if you currently work in one of these roles, full or part time, or fit one of the other groups below. There is no application committee: verify your role and your discount code arrives within 2 business days.
Active nurses and other healthcare professionals, working full or part time.
K-12 and postsecondary teachers and educators.
First responders, including emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
Career and volunteer firefighters.
Police officers and other law enforcement officers.
Current enrollment verification is required.
Veterans and military spouses who do not qualify for the Next Mission Scholarship.

Next Mission Scholarship: 80% off
Veterans have a dedicated scholarship. The Next Mission Scholarship takes 80% off standard tuition for veterans who separated within the past 7 years with an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge and an individual annual income between $30,000 and $75,000, and for active-duty service members within 180 days of separation. An independent scholarship committee makes each award decision within 14 days.
Not eligible for Next Mission?
Veterans who do not meet the Next Mission criteria, and military spouses, can use the Community Heroes Discount for 40% off tuition. Other funding may also apply:
- VA Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31) for veterans with a service-connected disability
- WIOA Individual Training Accounts through your local workforce center

Yes. You can finance the balance after your discount with a Climb Credit payment plan, including a 0% interest option over 12 months. All Climb plans carry a $100 registration fee, and approval is subject to Climb Credit underwriting.
I am a veteran. Should I use this discount or the Next Mission Scholarship?
Start with the Next Mission Scholarship, which takes 80% off standard tuition for eligible veterans and service members. If you do not meet its criteria, for example because you separated more than 7 years ago or your income falls outside its range, the Community Heroes Discount applies instead.
Do military spouses qualify?
Yes. Military spouses qualify for the Community Heroes Discount. The Next Mission Scholarship is for veterans and service members only.
Do college students qualify for the discount?
Full-time college students qualify. Upload proof of current full-time enrollment with the verification form.
Are DWC classes online?
Yes. Certificate programs and classes are taught live online by instructors, so you can train from anywhere in the country while you keep working.
