Overview

Throughout this Introduction to UX Design course, you will be guided by expert instructors including senior UX engineers and graphic designers.  With support and mentoring every step of the way, you will learn to tackle advanced technical concepts and industry-leading software for UX Design in an easy to understand format.

The Introduction to UX Design workshop is project based, where you will learn UX Design in a hands-on format. Throughout your program, your instructors will be teaching critical topics ranging from UX basics to User Interface (UI) concepts to tools such as Adobe XD and Figma.

As you work through the sessions of Introduction to UX Design, each class will be a hands-on and intensive workshop, designed to help make difficult topics easier to understand.  Your instructor, a UX Design expert, will work with you closely to make sure that you avoid common mistakes in UX Design and apply best practices when possible.

Class Objectives

Upon successful completion of the Introduction to UX Design class, students will be able to:

  • Understand UX Design Vocabulary
  • Define a persona and target audience
  • Explain User Flows and how they relate to Customer Journeys
  • Understand the role of accessibility and usability for all users
  • Create the elements needed for a UI design system
  • Use Adobe XD to create UX designs
  • Create both a “paper” and digital Prototype for testing their designs
  • Create a Style Guide and the digital assets for other teams or projects
  • Understand some of the variations in UX Tools like Adobe XD, Figma and Sketch

Pre-requisites

  • Basic digital literacy including file management is required.
  • Introduction to Design Fundamentals is recommended, but not required.
  • It is required you install the latest Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Bridge software before starting class. Learn about Adobe CC student rates through DWC here or download a trial from Adobe.com

What format are these classes?

Stand-alone classes at DWC are focused skills workshops that teach in a specific area of a high demand career field. 

Often described as a "short course" format, these accelerated workshops can be attended as stand-alone or can be taken as part of a larger certificate program.

Certificate programs offer more comprehensive training to help lead you to empoyment, support & mentoring, portfolio building, and career coaching.
